Description

  • Design, build, and maintain the macOS client at the core of the endpoint security solution.
  • Help shape the architecture of new features and services and provide technical direction on complex projects.
  • Review requirements to identify gaps and limitations, and communicate proposed simplifications with cross-functional teams.
  • Own code quality through rigorous code reviews, pull-request feedback, and enforcement of unit testing and engineering guidelines.
  • Develop and improve build, deployment, and test automation for the team.
  • Identify, prioritize, and help resolve technical debt.
  • Collaborate with the team to define work clearly and deliver quality outcomes each sprint.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues escalated to engineering and feed learnings back into the product.
  • Track emerging macOS and security technologies and recommend improvements to tools and development processes.
  • Become the go-to expert for at least one area of the product and deepen that expertise over time.

Requirements

  • Degree in a software engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong software engineering background with significant hands-on development experience and specialist depth in at least one technical area.
  • Hands-on macOS development experience with Swift, Objective-C, and/or C++.
  • Experience building systems-level software or endpoint security software.
  • Hands-on experience with macOS launch daemons, launch agents, unified logging, and XPC components.
  • Experience directing agentic AI development tools such as Claude Code, including framing problems, challenging output, and reviewing generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
  • Experience with formal software development methodologies.
  • At least 2 years of commercial software engineering experience for the Software Development Engineer level, or typically 5+ years with technical leadership for the Senior Software Development Engineer level.
  • Experience working with Qt (preferred).
  • Experience with Apple’s System Extension framework (Endpoint Protection) (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Apple’s authorization system, the sudo plugin framework, or the macOS kernel and Mandatory Access Control Framework (MACF) (preferred).
  • Relevant professional qualifications or certifications (preferred).
