Description

  • Develop and leverage relationships with payors, stakeholders, and influencers to secure and maintain product access.
  • Implement short- and long-term business plans that optimize coverage, reimbursement, and patient access.
  • Assess the sales implications of GPO, PBM, and downstream customer actions and adjust strategy to expand access.
  • Influence market access strategies and solutions in response to marketplace barriers and future events such as competitor launches.
  • Independently analyze and support negotiations with Pricing & Contracting, business analytics, and medical affairs to inform contract pricing decisions.
  • Lead contract pricing committee discussions and obtain approvals for contracting requests for targeted accounts.
  • Provide customer insights and analytics to support key business decisions and business development assessments.
  • Support formulary placement, reimbursement, utilization management, and patient access strategies across payer customers.
  • Negotiate cost-effective contracts that enable access to Ascendis products for providers and patients.
  • Create and deliver payer-trend, coverage, and billing messages for field-based teams and reimbursement managers.
  • Work with Patient Services Field Reimbursement Managers to ensure accurate coverage determinations and resolve customer issues.
  • Provide periodic market updates to Sales Management on provider, payer, and health care reform trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of field-based pharmaceutical or biotech Market Access, Sales, or Marketing experience.
  • At least 5 years of direct managed care experience in Commercial, Medicare Part D, and Managed Medicaid channels.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payer decision-making for formulary processes, coverage, utilization management, and patient access under pharmacy benefit through specialty pharmacies.
  • Rare disease therapeutic experience, specifically in endocrine conditions, preferred.
  • Extensive relationships and contracting experience with payers, health systems, and organized customers at the national and regional level.
  • Established and current relationships with key executives at assigned accounts preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex market and stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to build highly collaborative cross-functional working relationships.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively in complex internal and external situations.
  • Understanding of organizational behavior and corporate culture in a complex, rapidly evolving entrepreneurial workplace.
  • Field-based role requiring up to 50-65% travel.
  • Experience with Ascent Health Services and Express Scripts (ESI) organizations preferred.
