Description

  • Lead technical engagement for assigned federal civilian opportunities from discovery through proof of concept and close.
  • Run discovery and requirements sessions and document agency technical and business needs.
  • Design AppGate solutions, including configuration, quoting, and required internal approvals.
  • Serve as technical lead on RFP and proposal responses.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations for customers.
  • Provide design, integration, and implementation support for new deployments and upgrades.
  • Support account teams with strategic and tactical account planning and market positioning.
  • Act as the technical authority on Zero Trust and map AppGate ZTNA to federal frameworks and mandates.
  • Mentor sales engineers and set technical standards, demo environments, and proof-of-concept playbooks.
  • Advise agency CIOs, CISOs, and program leaders on Zero Trust modernization roadmaps.
  • Work with product and engineering teams to incorporate federal requirements, including FedRAMP, into the roadmap.
  • Train internal teams, customers, and partners on AppGate products and represent the company at conferences and industry events.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years in pre-sales engineering or solutions architecture, with significant federal civilian customer experience.
  • Knowledge of federal frameworks and mandates including CISA Zero Trust Maturity Model, TIC 3.0, CDM, OMB M-22-09, Executive Order 14028, FISMA, and NIST SP 800-207 and 800-53.
  • Familiarity with federal procurement vehicles and bid processes such as GSA MAS, NASA SEWP, NITAAC CIO-SP3/CIO-SP4, and CDM DEFEND.
  • Understanding of FedRAMP authorization, High Value Asset protection, and the EINSTEIN national cybersecurity program.
  • Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and IBM Cloud.
  • Network security experience with firewalls, next-generation firewalls, NAC, VPNs, ZTNA, and SASE.
  • Experience with identity and authentication technologies including Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, Kerberos, SAML, PIV cards, derived credentials, and ICAM.
  • Knowledge of encryption standards including AES, PKI, RSA, and FIPS 140-2/140-3 validated cryptography.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix, and Red Hat.
  • Scripting experience with RESTful APIs and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or ITSM frameworks.
  • 10+ years of strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with engineers and executives.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or a similar CRM and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • CCNA, CCIE, or an equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust or Secret clearance is preferred.
  • Experience with target agencies such as IRS, Treasury, State, CBP, or FEMA is preferred.
  • Broader DHS experience, including CISA, TSA, USCIS, ICE, the Coast Guard, or the Secret Service, is preferred.
  • Experience with HHS agencies, the VA, or large departments such as Agriculture, Interior, Energy, Transportation, or Commerce is preferred.
  • State, local, and education experience, including StateRAMP, CJIS, MS-ISAC, and related grant programs, is a plus.
  • Existing relationships with agency technical decision-makers, systems integrators, and channel partners are preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, an AWS or Azure cloud credential, or a recognized Zero Trust certification are preferred.
  • Thought leadership experience such as conference speaking, published technical content, or standards work is preferred.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $200K-$250K.
  • 50% variable bonus/commission.
  • 50% travel role.
