Description

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance backend services, microservices, and APIs for low-latency, high-throughput workloads.
  • Develop and maintain streaming data pipelines and event-driven systems for real-time data processing and downstream analytics.
  • Optimize backend performance, resiliency, fault tolerance, and observability in a high-concurrency environment.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, DevOps, and Frontend teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship through code reviews, design discussions, and best-practice guidance.
  • Contribute to technical strategy, evaluate emerging technologies, and make build-vs-buy recommendations.
  • Support real-time bidding, personalization, and other AdTech use cases across the platform.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience building backend systems, including 3+ years in a senior or lead role.
  • Experience building high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems at scale.
  • Expertise in microservices architecture and distributed system design.
  • Proficiency in Java and Go, with Python experience for scripting, automation, or data processing.
  • Hands-on experience with streaming technologies and event-driven frameworks such as Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis.
  • Strong cloud experience, preferably with AWS, including services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and SNS/SQS.
  • Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Cassandra, or Redis.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Deep understanding of observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Preferred: Deep knowledge of programmatic advertising, including DSPs, SSPs, ad exchanges, and real-time bidding.
  • Preferred: Experience with systems at extreme scale, such as real-time auction systems or high-frequency trading platforms.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with Spark, Hadoop, columnar data stores, Druid, or ClickHouse.
  • Preferred: Experience with performance profiling and optimization, including JVM tuning, concurrency, GC optimization, or network I/O.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s or Ph.D. is a plus.
