Description

  • Define and maintain commerce platform system architecture, including product data models, module and capability selection, integration patterns, and client-specific adaptations.
  • Lead solution design and delivery for modern, API-first and headless commerce platform implementations.
  • Develop architecture blueprints, technical roadmaps, and documentation to support scalable, modular solution delivery.
  • Evaluate and advise clients on platform selection and technology strategy, including composable, MACH, and headless approaches.
  • Provide technical leadership and problem solving across client and delivery teams, acting as an escalation point for architecture, integration, and performance issues.
  • Support pre-sales and discovery activities by defining solution concepts, shaping proposals, conducting technical assessments, and facilitating discovery workshops.
  • Assess legacy systems to identify technical debt and design phased modernization or replatforming strategies toward API-driven architectures.
  • Partner with project managers and delivery leads to identify technical risks, evaluate alternatives, implement mitigations, and ensure architectural decisions align with timelines and scope.
  • Communicate architectural designs, technical constraints, and implementation roadmaps to client stakeholders and internal teams, serving as a trusted advisor to inform tradeoffs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of solution architecture experience in commerce or enterprise platform environments
  • Strong experience with modern digital commerce platforms (experience with commercetools, Shopify, BigCommerce, Adobe Commerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud is valuable)
  • Expertise designing API-first, event-driven architectures using REST, GraphQL, JSON, webhooks, and messaging/queueing patterns
  • Experience defining product data models, domain models, integration patterns, and composable solution architectures across multi-system ecosystems
  • Strong engineering background with Node.js and TypeScript and experience with serverless functions or microservices in cloud environments
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and components such as API gateways, queues/streams, serverless compute, and containerized applications
  • Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL data models and experience designing data flows and integrations with ERP, PIM, OMS, payment platforms, and middleware
  • Familiarity with MACH, headless commerce, microservices, cloud-native best practices, and modern web storefront frameworks (e.g., React, Next.js, Vue.js)
  • Experience in client-facing IT consulting roles, strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience working with distributed teams and DevOps tools (Git, GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, Jira)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and experience with Agile or hybrid iterative delivery methodologies
