Description

  • Define and maintain commerce platform system architecture, including product data models, modules/capabilities, integration patterns, and client-specific adaptations.
  • Lead solution design and implementation for BigCommerce projects (Stencil, headless/Storefront API, B2B Edition, multi-storefront configurations).
  • Support and design solutions on other commerce platforms as needed (e.g., Shopify Plus, commercetools, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Adobe Commerce).
  • Develop architecture blueprints, technical roadmaps, and documentation to support scalable, modular solution delivery.
  • Evaluate and advise clients during platform selection and technology strategy discussions, including composable, MACH, and headless approaches.
  • Serve as a technical lead for delivery and pre-sales: define solution concepts, shape proposals, run discovery workshops, and perform technical assessments and scoping.
  • Collaborate with client technical teams and Zaelab delivery teams to diagnose and resolve platform, integration, and performance challenges; act as technical escalation point.
  • Assess legacy commerce platforms to identify technical debt and define phased modernization or replatforming strategies toward API-first/headless architectures.
  • Partner with project managers and delivery leads to identify technical risks, evaluate alternatives, implement mitigations, and communicate architectural trade-offs to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of solution architecture experience in commerce or enterprise platform environments.
  • Strong experience with BigCommerce, including Stencil, headless/Storefront API, B2B Edition, and multi-storefront architectures.
  • Familiarity with other modern commerce platforms (Shopify Plus, commercetools, Adobe Commerce/Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud).
  • Expertise designing API-first, event-driven architectures using REST, GraphQL, JSON, webhooks, and messaging/queueing patterns.
  • Experience defining product data models, domain models, integration patterns, and composable solution architectures across multi-system ecosystems (ERP, PIM, OMS, CMS, payment platforms).
  • Strong engineering background with Node.js and TypeScript, and experience with serverless functions or microservices in cloud environments.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) including API gateways, queues/streams, serverless compute, and containerized applications.
  • Familiarity with MACH, headless commerce, microservices, cloud-native best practices, and composable storefront frameworks (React, Next.js, Vue.js, or similar).
  • Experience in client-facing IT consulting roles, working with distributed teams and tools such as Git/GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, Jira, and Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and strong written/verbal communication skills to articulate complex architectural concepts.
