Description

  • Turn ambiguous, high-level product ideas into concrete technical plans by asking the right stakeholders the right questions.
  • Design, build, and ship end-to-end features across the full stack, including backend, frontend, testing, infrastructure, and rollout.
  • Develop backend logic, REST APIs, data-layer changes, and related system components in Java/Spring.
  • Make frontend touches where needed using TypeScript, React 19, microfrontends, Module Federation, and legacy Dart components.
  • Navigate an existing production codebase, deciding what to reuse, what to rebuild, and how to avoid unnecessary tech debt.
  • Think in systems and anticipate second-order effects before they become incidents.
  • Make technical and product tradeoff decisions independently and manage delivery risk.
  • Use AI tools daily as part of the development workflow, including building automations and internal tooling to reduce friction.
  • Challenge AI output and product assumptions when they do not hold up.
  • Own features or systems end-to-end rather than only executing fully specified tasks.

Requirements

  • Strong full-stack engineering experience with deep comfort in Java 21, Spring, REST APIs, SQL, TypeScript, and React 19.
  • Track record of owning features or systems end-to-end.
  • Experience navigating and improving an existing, non-trivial codebase; this is not a greenfield role.
  • Advanced, hands-on use of AI coding tools as part of a daily workflow.
  • Comfort making decisions under ambiguity and owning the outcome, good or bad.
  • Background as a technical founder, early startup engineer, small-company CTO or Head of Engineering, or senior engineer with active recent open-source or side-project work.
  • Experience with Java web stack testing and unit/integration testing.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Redux, or Dart is relevant to the stack.
  • Experience using tools such as Cursor, Claude/Codex, Zencoder, an internal AI portal, or MCP is preferred.
