Description

  • Turn ambiguous, high-level product ideas into concrete technical plans by asking the right people the right questions.
  • Design, build, and ship end-to-end features across the full stack, from backend logic to frontend touches, testing, infrastructure, and rollout.
  • Work with a Java/Spring backend, REST APIs, data layer, and modern frontend technologies as well as legacy components.
  • Navigate an existing, non-trivial codebase by deciding what to reuse, what to rebuild, and how to avoid unnecessary tech debt.
  • Think in systems and anticipate second-order effects before they become incidents.
  • Make technical and product tradeoff decisions independently and own the risk and outcome.
  • Use AI tools daily as part of the development workflow, including building automations and internal tooling to remove friction.
  • Challenge AI output and product assumptions when they do not hold up.
  • Collaborate with the right stakeholders to clarify requirements and move features to completion.

Requirements

  • Strong full-stack engineering experience with deep comfort in Java 21, Spring, REST APIs, SQL, TypeScript, and React 19.
  • A track record of owning features or systems end-to-end rather than only executing fully specified tickets.
  • Experience navigating and improving an existing, non-trivial codebase; this is not a greenfield role.
  • Advanced hands-on use of AI coding tools as part of a daily workflow.
  • Comfort making decisions under ambiguity and owning the outcome, good or bad.
  • Backgrounds that tend to succeed here include technical founders, early startup engineers, small-company CTOs or Heads of Engineering, or senior engineers with active recent open-source or side-project work.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, and unit/integration testing is relevant.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript, React 19, Redux, Dart, and the Java web stack is relevant.
  • Ability to work effectively in a role that expects autonomous execution and production deployment ownership.
