Description

  • Lead the strategy for building a fair, supportive, and high-performing workplace.
  • Oversee staff development across the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, probation, growth, and retention.
  • Manage the hiring process, including applicant tracking, advising hiring managers, and supporting priority searches.
  • Lead performance management systems, including role updates, work planning, evaluations, feedback, and progressive discipline.
  • Set and uphold management and leadership standards, including manager evaluations, onboarding, and training programs.
  • Lead staff communication and engagement efforts, including all-staff calls, gatherings, and engagement surveys.
  • Track and share staff data, including demographics, compensation, retention, and development.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for HR-related staff questions and employee relations matters.
  • Oversee investigations, corrective actions, performance improvement plans, and terminations as needed.
  • Maintain labor relations and ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and employment laws.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of work experience, including 5 years in leadership roles within nonprofit or political organizations.
  • Extensive experience in human resources operations, including compliance management, employee relations, and labor law.
  • Experience in adult learning theory, leadership development, organization development, and/or organizational psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff, including supervising performance, giving feedback, and supporting team development.
  • Strong expertise in equitable and inclusive policy development and organizational change.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including conflict mediation and consensus-building.
  • Expert group facilitation skills and ability to lead effective meetings virtually and in person.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Strong self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal acumen.
  • Preferred: experience using data and analysis to guide people and culture strategy.
  • Preferred: experience representing management in a unionized workplace.
  • Must be currently authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship available.
