Description

  • Design and ship AI-powered backend features end to end, owning quality, latency, and cost.
  • Build backend services and APIs that can handle real production load.
  • Instrument shipped services and monitor metrics to identify and fix issues.
  • Review code and technical designs critically and challenge assumptions when needed.
  • Help move prompt, retrieval, and agent changes from experimentation into production.
  • Collaborate across product, design, data science, and engineering to deliver solutions.
  • Support a culture of wellbeing and work-life balance within the team.

Requirements

  • Strong Python experience with a track record of shipping and operating production backends.
  • Solid AWS experience, including serverless services such as Lambda.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and Postgres.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and monitoring APIs in production.
  • Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka and SQS.
  • Experience with production observability tools and practices, including metrics, logs, traces, alerts, Grafana, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Comfort working with distributed systems and loosely scoped problems.
  • Experience working with Kotlin, Golang, or Java is mandatory for this role.
  • Experience with microservices is mandatory for this role.
  • Experience with distributed systems is mandatory for this role.
  • Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bonus: Strong SQL and some data pipeline experience, such as Airflow.
  • Bonus: Experience with LLM-based systems in production, including evaluation, prompts, retrieval, and agentic workflows.
  • Bonus: Experience with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot.
