Description

  • Define Research Flow’s technical direction, architecture, priorities, dependencies, and long-term foundations.
  • Lead complex AI engineering initiatives from ambiguous problem definition through production delivery.
  • Build generative AI applications using LLMs, RAG, vector search, tool use, and agentic systems.
  • Design scalable machine learning services, APIs, pipelines, and infrastructure using cloud and container technologies.
  • Establish evaluation strategies, benchmarks, release criteria, monitoring, and safeguards for AI quality, security, and privacy.
  • Improve retrieval quality, model performance, reliability, observability, deployment practices, and operational efficiency.
  • Create reusable engineering standards and mentor engineers and technical leads across teams.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Data Engineering, and Analytics teams to connect technical work to customer outcomes.
  • Communicate technical decisions, risks, trade-offs, dependencies, and measurable outcomes to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Significant experience building and operating production machine learning or AI systems, with technical leadership beyond individual projects.
  • Track record leading complex, cross-team engineering initiatives from ambiguity to measurable production outcomes.
  • Strong Python and software engineering skills, including direct production coding experience.
  • Experience designing production services and APIs with frameworks such as FastAPI.
  • Practical experience with generative AI, LLMs, RAG, tool use, or agentic systems; strong understanding of enterprise RAG architecture and evaluation.
  • Experience with PyTorch, LangChain, LangGraph, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD practices; familiarity with SageMaker or Bedrock.
  • Experience with event-driven processing, vector databases, Kafka, MLflow, observability tools such as Datadog or OpenSearch, or comparable technologies.
  • Ability to balance delivery speed, quality, reliability, scalability, security, and cost; influence decisions without formal authority and mentor engineers.
  • Preferred: B2B SaaS experience; conversational AI, multimodal AI, shared AI platforms, Airflow or Argo Workflows, SQL, Spark, Snowflake, AI security, privacy, or responsible AI experience.

Benefits

  • Fully remote role open to candidates in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and the Netherlands.
  • Base salary range of $170,000–$210,000 USD.
  • 5–10% bonus based on level and performance.
