Description

  • Design and implement RESTful, SOAP, or GraphQL services using API-first principles.
  • Integrate third-party services, APIs, and databases to expand internal application capabilities.
  • Implement authentication and authorization controls such as OAuth and JWT to protect endpoint data.
  • Write and maintain clear documentation for internal and external developers.
  • Monitor API performance, resolve bottlenecks, and implement caching and load-balancing improvements.
  • Work with backend languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C# as part of API development.
  • Use tools such as Postman, Swagger, OpenAPI, or SoapUI to design, test, or document APIs.
  • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases and manage version-controlled code.
  • Support cloud-based development and basic DevOps practices, including containerization and automated testing pipelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of API development experience, including at least 2+ years in a senior-level role.
  • Strong understanding of web protocols and architectural styles, including REST, GraphQL, and SOAP.
  • Proficiency in backend languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C#.
  • Experience with API tools such as Postman, Swagger, OpenAPI, or SoapUI.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Basic knowledge of DevOps practices, containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, and automated testing pipelines.
  • Experience handling JSON and XML data formats.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth2 and JWT.
  • Experience with version control and with querying and managing SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required.
