Description

  • Drive brand advertiser sales revenue through client-direct and agency relationships.
  • Own a book of business with quarterly and annual revenue targets.
  • Identify and develop new ad partners that fit The Athletic’s audience.
  • Manage the sales process from sourcing through partnership development and renewal support.
  • Drive advertising revenue across display, audio, newsletters, video, events, and social media.
  • Guide account management teams on RFP responses, client opportunities, and media planning.
  • Share partner insights, sales lessons, and new product opportunities across the team.
  • Maintain and nurture existing ad partner relationships to support renewals.
  • Represent The Athletic brand professionally in external client interactions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of digital ad sales experience, ideally across digital, video, social, and custom branded content.
  • Established agency and client-direct relationships that can be leveraged immediately.
  • Experience building on an existing foundation while improving tools, communication, and processes.
  • Ability to work independently as an individual contributor and as a team leader.
  • Strong motivation to meet ambitious sales targets.
  • Self-starter who can execute without close supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including email, phone, and in-person communication.
  • Interest in the sales process and the advertising industry.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively while working independently.
