Description

  • Design and evolve the architecture of a large Next.js App Router application, including rendering strategy, code-splitting, and bundle health.
  • Drive web performance improvements end to end, including Core Web Vitals, edge caching, and RUM-based measurement.
  • Set engineering standards through code review, pairing, and ownership of the most complex or ambiguous tasks.
  • Own frontend observability, including tracing, RUM, and feeding production insights back into engineering decisions.
  • Shape the CDN and caching strategy with platform and infrastructure teams, including cache keys, Vary headers, surrogate keys, and edge logic.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4-6 frontend engineers through 1:1s, growth plans, and performance feedback.
  • Own team delivery through planning, prioritization, scoping, and setting realistic commitments.
  • Partner with product, design, backend, and DevOps teams on roadmap decisions and technical trade-offs.
  • Improve team processes, including branching strategy, CI/CD, definition of done, and release process.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of frontend engineering experience, including 2+ years leading a team.
  • Deep expertise in React and TypeScript.
  • Production experience with Next.js, ideally App Router and React Server Components.
  • Track record of web performance optimization and understanding of how rendering strategy affects performance.
  • Solid understanding of how the browser, CDN, and caching layers interact in production.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including growing engineers and running a delivery process under real constraints.
  • Experience with high-traffic, multi-brand, or multi-tenant platforms is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry, SigNoz, or similar, plus RUM is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Fastly or comparable CDNs at the VCL or edge-logic level is preferred.
  • SEO experience for large customer-facing sites, including rendering, crawlability, hreflang, and canonical strategy, is preferred.
