Description

  • Build greenfield internal services from initial design through production and broad adoption across multiple engineering teams.
  • Design and build customer-facing applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
  • Build administration backends, workflow tooling, and developer-facing surfaces that support shared platform primitives.
  • Own durable API contracts, including versioning, backward compatibility, SDKs, and zero-downtime migrations.
  • Design and evolve data models across PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Operate services in production through SLOs, instrumentation, alerting, and incident follow-through.
  • Advance agentic development practices and the automation, coverage, and testing infrastructure that supports them.
  • Write RFCs, design docs, and integration guides for other teams, and mentor engineers who consume the services.
  • Partner with QA, Platform, and Security teams on CI/CD automation, build/test infrastructure, and long-term platform evolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience across the full SDLC, with significant backend and platform experience.
  • Demonstrated experience owning production enterprise systems over multi-year horizons.
  • Track record of taking a service from initial design to production and adoption by other teams.
  • Ability to build consensus across teams without formal authority and communicate technical decisions in writing.
  • Proven experience mentoring junior engineers and adapting communication for different stakeholders.
  • Fluency with agentic and AI-assisted development in real production workflows.
  • Strong TypeScript experience end to end, including advanced typing patterns and runtime validation.
  • Deep experience with Node.js and NestJS, or strong Express/Fastify experience with solid DI fundamentals.
  • Experience with React and Next.js, including hooks, App Router, server components, and SSR/CSR tradeoffs.
  • Experience integrating authentication systems such as NextAuth and Auth0 across multiple applications and identity providers.
  • Experience designing durable APIs with REST and/or GraphQL, idempotency, pagination, contract testing, and semantic versioning.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL for transactional data and MongoDB for flexible, versioned documents.
  • Experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems such as RabbitMQ, SQS, or Kafka.
  • Testing experience with tools such as Jest, Supertest, Playwright or Cypress, and Testcontainers.
  • Cloud-native delivery experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and CD tooling.
  • Ability to instrument services and define SLOs.
  • Ability to use AI effectively while understanding its limitations and keeping a human in the loop.
  • Preferred: financial systems experience such as double-entry ledgers, reconciliation, ACH handling, or payment integrations.
  • Preferred: identity and access experience including OAuth 2.0/OIDC, SAML, multi-tenant RBAC, MFA, or building an OIDC provider.
  • Preferred: compliance-constrained engineering experience with SOC 2, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP/GovRAMP, PCI-DSS, or FIPS 140-3.
  • Preferred: experience with workflow/rules engines, feature flagging, progressive delivery, white-labeling, internationalization, or public-sector/GovTech environments.
