Description

  • Implement well-defined tasks and smaller features under the guidance of middle and senior developers.
  • Develop scalable, high-performance backend components for a multi-brand gambling platform.
  • Communicate progress with team members and report blockers promptly.
  • Fix bugs in assigned features with support from the team.
  • Write unit tests for developed code.
  • Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies.
  • Continuously learn team processes, the codebase, and the broader development workflow.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience building backend systems.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with Scala.
  • Strong JVM language background in Java or Kotlin with eagerness to transition to Scala is acceptable.
  • Basic understanding of RESTful API concepts.
  • Familiarity with the Scala ecosystem, including SBT and basic Akka or Play Framework concepts.
  • Basic understanding of messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Awareness of microservices architecture principles.
  • Basic knowledge of containerisation with Docker.
  • Understanding of core software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Exposure to cloud services such as AWS or GCP and DevOps tools such as CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills at B1+/B2 level.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Eagerness to learn, take feedback, and grow within the team.
  • Self-organised with a proactive attitude toward problem-solving.
  • Strong interest in using AI-powered tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or Cursor to speed up development tasks is desirable.
  • Experience using AI for code generation, refactoring, debugging, test creation, and documentation is desirable.
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence is desirable.
  • Experience with ZIO and/or the Typelevel stack such as Cats is desirable.
  • Experience with Couchbase DB is desirable.
  • Experience with ElasticSearch is desirable.
  • Experience in gambling or online gaming is desirable.
  • Experience with TDD development processes is desirable.
