Description

  • Own backend architecture and develop product features across the SmithRx product suite.
  • Design, document, build, test, and maintain software throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to translate functional and technical needs into scalable software and services.
  • Produce technical design documentation and provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds.
  • Apply software development best practices, design patterns, automation, testing, and engineering tools.
  • Use AWS services such as Lambda and Fargate to support jobs and batch processing.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform triage, and carry out root cause analysis and mitigation planning.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers through code reviews and design reviews.
  • Work with senior leadership to turn technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
  • Foster a collaborative learning culture through mentorship, code reviews, and exploration of new technologies.

Requirements

  • BS or advanced degree in computer science or equivalent applicable experience.
  • 12-15 years of software development experience on server-side applications.
  • Experience with API servers, third-party integrations, and data processing.
  • Expertise in a compiled language such as Go, Java, or Kotlin is required.
  • Strong proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, SQL tuning, and database monitoring.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing scalable APIs.
  • Solid understanding of design patterns, database design, and testing best practices.
  • Working knowledge of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Experience at a high-growth startup is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, accurately forecast milestones, and communicate expectations with stakeholders.
