Description

  • Design, develop, test, document, and maintain SmithRx product features across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Own backend architecture and build scalable software and services for the product suite.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical leads to translate functional and technical requirements into implementation plans.
  • Produce technical design documentation and provide scope and risk estimates for system and feature builds.
  • Apply software development best practices, design patterns, testing, automation, and modern tools throughout development.
  • Use AWS services such as Lambda and Fargate to support jobs and batch processing.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, lead triage, and perform root cause analysis and mitigation planning.
  • Coach and mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and project feedback.
  • Work with senior leadership to turn technical vision into a quarterly roadmap.
  • Help foster a collaborative learning culture by exploring new technologies and sharing innovations.

Requirements

  • BS or advanced degree in computer science or equivalent applicable experience.
  • 5-8 years of software development experience on server-side applications, including API servers, third-party integrations, and data processing.
  • Expertise in a compiled language such as Go, Java, or Kotlin.
  • Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, SQL tuning, and database monitoring.
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable APIs.
  • Solid understanding of design patterns, database design, and testing best practices.
  • Working knowledge of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Experience at a high-growth startup is a plus.
  • Strong ability to work independently, accurately forecast delivery milestones, and manage expectations with stakeholders.
  • Positive, team-first attitude and comfort working with ambiguity.
