Description

  • Perform database capacity planning, installation, configuration, design, migration, monitoring, security, troubleshooting, backup, and recovery.
  • Serve as a data management subject matter expert for internal teams, customers, and partners.
  • Support the deployment, maintenance, and operation of data systems across internal and external projects.
  • Write and tune SQL queries and review database schemas for performance.
  • Implement and maintain DBMS platforms and data maintenance pipelines.
  • Plan and execute migrations for complex systems and large datasets.
  • Recommend improvements to database systems, processes, and operational practices.
  • Collect, analyze, and present database performance and operational metrics.
  • Collaborate with development, managed services, partners, and customers on database enhancements and best practices.
  • Accurately track billable project hours in NetSuite and comply with privacy, security, and confidentiality policies.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in computer science or a related field, plus 5–10 years of experience in database administration, IT, database architecture, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience with relational and non-relational databases, including Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with database server tools.
  • Advanced database tuning skills, including interpreting execution plans and optimizing queries across multiple database servers.
  • Advanced knowledge of database security and performance monitoring standards.
  • Understanding of relational modeling, with strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
  • Experience with programming languages and troubleshooting connection strings and pools.
  • At least 3 years of experience with cloud database services such as AWS RDS or Azure PostgreSQL, plus at least 2 years maintaining PostgreSQL, including backup, restore, and multi-region replication.
  • Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or OCI and queuing services such as Kafka, Event Hubs, or ActiveMQ.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail; Snowflake, Redshift, data lake, and Big Data experience preferred.
