Description

  • Own the performance, availability, and scalability of production PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB systems.
  • Design, implement, and maintain backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Lead database deployments, migrations, and schema changes with minimal downtime.
  • Provide after-hours and on-call support for critical deployments.
  • Monitor database health and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Partner with Engineering on scalable data architectures for new features.
  • Establish and enforce database security, access control, and governance practices.
  • Document database processes and mentor engineers on database best practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar senior data infrastructure role.
  • Production expertise with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.
  • Experience with backups, disaster recovery, replication, and high-availability systems.
  • Experience supporting production deployments and after-hours or on-call rotations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed, multi-timezone team.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish.
  • Based in Mexico, Europe, or a timezone that complements the Bogota-based team.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
