Description

  • Navigate complex higher education and school district procurement processes and sales cycles.
  • Identify, engage, and manage relationships with stakeholders across executive, IT, academic, administrative, and procurement teams.
  • Respond to RFPs and RFQs and tailor proposals to customer needs and institutional challenges.
  • Conduct onsite customer visits for executive presentations, user group presentations, and industry events.
  • Build executive awareness, sales pipeline, and bookings growth within the assigned territory.
  • Develop new business opportunities within existing customers and expand Smartsheet’s footprint across departments.
  • Partner with Sales Engineers, Solutions Consultants, Sales Development, and Customer Success teams to manage the full sales cycle and close business.
  • Track key metrics and forecast pipeline and sales activity using the CRM platform.
  • Work with multiple functional departments to manage the customer lifecycle from pre-sale through renewal.
  • Use research, sales enablement tools, and industry knowledge to personalize the sales approach and demonstrate product value.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of full-cycle sales experience from prospecting to close in a technology-oriented field.
  • SaaS sales experience is highly preferred but not required.
  • Proven success selling into state and local government, K-12, or higher education institutions.
  • Experience with RFPs, procurement cycles, and government contracting vehicles such as NASPO, GSA, and DIR.
  • Experience prospecting and managing a designated territory to maximize revenue growth.
  • Ability to travel as needed within the assigned region, including at least quarterly travel for key customer opportunities.
  • Ability to research accounts for up-sell opportunities and multi-thread across an organization.
  • Data-driven sales approach with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong relationship management skills with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and proficiency with Google Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience maintaining customer relationships in a B2B environment.
