Description

  • Own end-to-end data engineering requirements from concept through production.
  • Prioritize payroll data needs and build an invoicing system to automate manual processes.
  • Assess and improve the legacy SQL database and Azure data environment.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and integrations across Azure, HubSpot, Xero, and Stripe.
  • Analyze club financial performance and membership utilization for reports and internal dashboards.
  • Combine marketing and financial data to measure campaign costs, customer acquisition costs, and business costs.
  • Develop data services, REST APIs, and backend functionality.
  • Maintain and assess the Power BI environment, recommending cost-effective reporting alternatives where appropriate.
  • Automate manual business processes and data workflows using Power Automate or suitable tools.
  • Partner with the CFO, leadership, and development team to deliver practical financial and business data solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong SQL and T-SQL expertise, including data modelling and legacy SQL database improvement.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, data pipelines, and integrations.
  • Commercial backend development experience, including REST APIs, system integrations, and Git.
  • Strong Power BI skills, including DAX, Power Query/M, Dataflows, and Paginated Reports.
  • Ability to assess Power BI costs and limitations and recommend alternative BI tools.
  • Experience automating business processes and data workflows.
  • Ability to translate financial and business needs into production data engineering solutions.
  • Proven ownership of data engineering delivery from initial concept through production.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise commercial technical judgment, and collaborate with a small development team.
  • Excellent spoken English and discretion in handling sensitive payroll, financial, and business information.
  • Experience with payroll, invoicing, billing automation, Xero, or Stripe (preferred).
  • Experience with financial modelling and forecasting, .NET, Azure application development, HubSpot data, Metabase, or Fivetran (preferred).
