Description

Design, build, and scale full-stack applications using Python-based backend frameworks and React-based frontend technologies.
Architect and implement RESTful APIs and microservices supporting NLP- and LLM-enabled features.
Lead backend development focused on performance, observability, reliability, and clean architecture.
Build and improve CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, code-quality enforcement, and secure cloud-native deployments.
Troubleshoot complex system issues, resolve test failures, and improve test coverage and engineering quality.
Partner with Human-Centered Design experts to deliver intuitive, responsive, and accessible user experiences.
Identify and implement automation opportunities that reduce operational burden for users and stakeholders.
Contribute to architecture decisions, technical roadmaps, and engineering best practices.
Collaborate with product, customer experience, data science, and DevOps teams to align delivery with CMS mission outcomes.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
10+ years of progressive software engineering experience building and scaling production-grade applications.
Strong Python backend experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar API frameworks.
Frontend experience with React or comparable modern JavaScript frameworks and component-driven development.
Experience designing RESTful APIs and working with microservices architectures.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins or similar tools, automated testing, and secure deployment practices.
Familiarity with AWS and cloud-native development patterns.
Experience integrating or supporting AI/ML capabilities, such as NLP, LLMs, chatbots, or similar systems.
Strong knowledge of software design principles, clean architecture, and secure coding practices.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance and pass a background investigation.
Experience with AI-powered enterprise applications in regulated environments, MLOps, legacy modernization, ethical AI, or CMS/HHS work is preferred.
