Description

  • Own a scoped software project from design through production with mentor support.
  • Ship production features used by ShopBack members.
  • Use coding agents to accelerate development while reviewing, testing, and verifying their output.
  • Build an AI skill, tool, or agent workflow that the team can continue using after the internship.
  • Write evaluations and tests to measure the quality of AI-powered work.

Requirements

  • Strong coding fundamentals, including clean code, design patterns, data structures, APIs, and testing.
  • Experience building projects outside coursework, such as side projects, hackathons, open-source contributions, or freelance work.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI, such as building with an LLM API, custom agent or MCP server, end-to-end automation, or prompt/model evaluations.
  • Ability to investigate, validate, and troubleshoot AI-generated outputs.
  • Curiosity, fast learning ability, and willingness to ask thoughtful questions.
  • Provide an example of an AI project, including the problem, solution, AI failures and fixes, and a repository, demo, video, or write-up.
  • Experience building tool-using, memory-enabled, or multi-step agents (preferred).
  • Experience writing AI evaluations or tests (preferred).
  • Experience shipping products to real users (preferred).
  • Experience deploying projects to a cloud platform (preferred).
