Description

  • Own the technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for the authentication and authorization platform.
  • Architect, design, and build scalable auth services and gateway components in Golang on AWS.
  • Lead phased, zero-downtime migrations of auth traffic and functionality with safe rollback plans.
  • Define and evolve authentication and authorization standards across the platform.
  • Drive consistency, performance, reliability, and low latency across a distributed microservices architecture.
  • Partner with Security and Compliance to meet fintech-grade security and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish engineering best practices for observability, security, and CI/CD.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and lead incident response and postmortems for owned services.
  • Mentor engineers and help teammates adopt AI-assisted and secure development practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business goals into technical roadmaps and delivery plans.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant backend experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field is required.
  • Deployed significant changes to a production application within the past 30 days.
  • Deep hands-on experience with authentication and authorization systems, including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, JWT, sessions, and token lifecycle management.
  • Experience designing, building, or operating an API gateway or auth proxy at scale.
  • Proven track record leading a large-scale service extraction or migration with minimal customer impact.
  • Strong proficiency in Golang and experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
  • Expertise with SQL-based RDBMS such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, including schema and query optimization.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems patterns such as transactional outbox, event-driven architecture, and queues.
  • Demonstrated AI-forward engineering experience using tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or custom LLM integrations.
  • Experience with identity platforms such as Keycloak, Auth0, Okta, Ory, or in-house IdPs is preferred.
  • Experience with service mesh and edge technologies such as Envoy, Istio, mTLS, rate limiting, or WAF integration is preferred.
  • Familiarity with threat modeling, secure design review, and common auth attack vectors is preferred.
  • Proficiency with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or New Relic is preferred.
  • Experience with AWS Aurora RDS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, or fintech/payments systems is preferred.
