Description

  • Define solution-level architectures centered on Azure Databricks, data mesh patterns, domain-oriented data products, and Unity Catalog governance.
  • Translate business objectives into scalable, governed, and implementable data solutions.
  • Develop high-level designs and evolve them into detailed designs with System Architects and delivery teams.
  • Identify and manage cross-system dependencies, integration points, and architectural risks.
  • Design and execute proof-of-concepts to validate architectural decisions and reduce delivery risk.
  • Support implementation teams by clarifying architectural intent, reviewing designs, and resolving complex technical issues.
  • Partner with Product Management, Business Owners, and System Architects during envisioning, PI Planning, architecture reviews, and solution refinement.
  • Provide architectural mentorship to System Architects, Tech Leads, and senior engineers.
  • Create and maintain architecture artifacts such as C4 models, HLDs, LLDs, sequence diagrams, and data flow diagrams.
  • Define and document functional and non-functional requirements based on the final solution design.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional experience in software and/or data engineering with progression into solution-level technical leadership.
  • 4+ years of experience designing and delivering data platforms on Azure Databricks.
  • Hands-on knowledge of data mesh concepts and domain-oriented data products.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Unity Catalog for security, governance, lineage, and multi-workspace patterns.
  • Strong software engineering experience with C# and Python for service integration, APIs, and platform automation.
  • Experience designing solutions across data platforms, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and downstream consumers.
  • Proven ability to define solution-level architectures and guide them through delivery, including dependency and risk management.
  • Experience creating and consuming architectural artifacts such as architecture diagrams, design narratives, C4 models, and sequence diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, DevOps, operational considerations, and security/compliance alignment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Bias toward execution, including validating designs through proof-of-concepts and hands-on delivery.
  • Prior experience as a System Architect or Senior Technical Lead.
  • Experience with diagram-as-code tools such as Structurizr, PlantUML, or Mermaid is preferred.
