Description

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java, Python, Spring Boot, FastAPI, Postgres, and Kafka.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Operations, Sales, and engineering teams to build reliable products that solve customer pain points.
  • Lead architectural decisions, including monolith decomposition, domain boundaries, and distributed systems patterns.
  • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices such as test-driven development, continuous delivery, SRE culture, and API-first design.
  • Mentor less senior engineers through code reviews, quality coding practices, and weekly learning sessions.
  • Support the strategic transition of parts of the backend from the legacy Python-based systems to Java.
  • Work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fully remote, cross-functional environment.
  • Take strong ownership of product quality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of backend software development experience.
  • Strong professional experience with Python, including frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, Flask, or similar.
  • Strong professional experience with Java, preferably using Spring Boot.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL; exposure to NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Familiarity with unit testing, integration testing, and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and modern development workflows.
  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to performance and scalability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
