Description

  • Spend the first weeks of engagements doing the customer’s work before automating it.
  • Embed directly within client operations as part of the customer’s team and process.
  • Rebuild critical business functions from first principles using existing industry blueprints as a baseline.
  • Own the technical method and delivery outcome for each engagement.
  • Collaborate with Forward Deployed Executives and client stakeholders to redesign workflows and operating models.
  • Build and ship production AI systems and iterate them based on field learnings.
  • Measure success by business-unit performance rather than hours or scope delivered.
  • Evaluate model and system performance using defined evaluation suites and failure-mode analysis.
  • Work across real operating problems without being confined to a narrow project scope.

Requirements

  • 8+ years building software, with substantial hands-on production coding experience.
  • Willingness to work in the operator’s seat for weeks before writing code.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar business domains quickly and credibly.
  • Experience shipping GenAI/LLM systems to production.
  • Experience building or owning an evaluation suite for a non-deterministic system.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and productivity in unfamiliar codebases or languages.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
  • Cloud-native delivery experience on AWS, including containers, Kubernetes/ECS, IaC, and CI/CD.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior business and technical stakeholders.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, underspecified engagements, and high ownership.
  • Solid AI/ML foundations and understanding of model failure modes.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • Nice to have: prior experience as a founder, CTO, or engineering leader who returned to individual contribution.
  • Nice to have: deep domain experience in financial services, insurance, healthcare, or asset management.
  • Nice to have: consulting, professional services, or other embedded customer-facing delivery experience.
  • Nice to have: data platform experience with data lakes, warehouses, streaming, real-time analytics, data mesh, governance, and data quality.
  • Nice to have: MLOps and classical ML experience with PyTorch, SageMaker, and MLflow.
  • Nice to have: experience with fine-tuning, distillation, or inference/serving optimization.
  • Nice to have: graph database experience with Neo4j or AWS Neptune.
  • Nice to have: IaC experience with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
  • Nice to have: open-source contributions or public writing on applied AI.
