Description

  • Monitor database metrics and ensure database reliability objectives are met.
  • Automate operational processes to reduce toil and manage database systems at scale.
  • Drive data-informed performance and availability improvements across database platforms.
  • Support Engineering and SRE teams with database migrations, query tuning, and schema and design improvements.
  • Troubleshoot database performance issues and conduct root-cause analysis.
  • Standardize database configurations, deployment patterns, and operational processes for SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • Manage and prioritize operational tickets, incidents, service requests, and database maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working with relational database systems.
  • 1+ year of experience in a database, SRE, or engineering-related role.
  • Hands-on SQL Server or PostgreSQL administration experience, including performance tuning, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure; Azure is preferred.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, including Ansible and Terraform.
  • Coding and automation experience with PowerShell, C#, SQL, Python, or Go.
  • Experience using source control systems such as Git.
  • University or college education in Database Management, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience managing large database environments and databases over 1 TB is preferred.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Grafana, ClickHouse, NoSQL databases, or AI-assisted development and automation is preferred.
  • Availability for some on-call or after-hours work.
  • Ability to travel for occasional in-office events in Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City.
