Description

  • Own third-party AI tool connectivity end to end, including authentication, traffic flow, and data access boundaries.
  • Design and evolve the AI integration architecture with secure, reusable standards and guardrails.
  • Build and operate custom MCP servers and connectors for internal tools such as Slack, Google Workspace, and Atlassian.
  • Lead incident response and cross-system troubleshooting for high-impact integration issues.
  • Develop automation and integrations using scripting and platform APIs/SDKs to manage connector lifecycle and monitoring.
  • Integrate AI tools with identity, security, and IT workflows such as SSO/IdP, SCIM, DLP, logging, and ITSM.
  • Use AI assistants to accelerate engineering work while validating outputs and maintaining ownership of final results.
  • Lead cross-functional projects from design through production, including onboarding, migrations, and rollout efforts.
  • Mentor and review other engineers to improve designs, implementations, and technical practices.
  • Represent the team with internal stakeholders and external vendors to translate business needs into durable technical solutions.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production services or platform integrations in medium-to-large environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more backend languages such as Python, Go, Java, or TypeScript/Node.
  • Solid software design and architecture ability, including API and backend service design.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in authentication and authorization, including OAuth 2.0/2.1, OIDC, SAML, token exchange, and PKCE.
  • Strong systems design and troubleshooting skills across clients, network, identity, edge/ingress, and backend services.
  • Experience building and integrating with REST/RPC APIs, webhooks, SDKs, and SaaS connectors such as Slack, Google Workspace, or Atlassian.
  • Grounding in engineering quality practices, including automated testing, code review, CI/CD, observability, and safe production rollout.
  • Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP), AI connector/gateway ecosystems, and security/privacy/compliance controls such as SSO/SCIM, DLP, and access reviews; Kubernetes/EKS and Terraform are a plus.
  • Proven use of AI tools to accelerate engineering work with a clear validation approach.
  • Track record of leading large, complex initiatives and operating at a staff-level scope.
  • Ability to lead and mentor engineers and partner effectively with managers, product owners, and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work across diverse teams and locations while modeling Pinterest’s values.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $177,185 to $364,795 USD for US-based applicants.
  • Eligible for equity.
  • Remote role with only 1–2 in-office collaboration visits every 6 months.
