Description

  • Design and build Looker semantic models end to end, including model files, views, explores, dashboards, and Looks.
  • Migrate legacy reports into Looker by mapping source reports to warehouse tables and rebuilding them to standard.
  • Validate source data in SQL before building dashboards and reports.
  • Implement and maintain row-level security in Looker using user attributes and access filters.
  • Collaborate with data engineering to define mappings, raise blockers, and push calculations into the warehouse.
  • Work in Looker's Git-based development workflow and review peers' LookML code.
  • Establish and enforce LookML standards across the team.
  • Communicate progress, trade-offs, risks, and blockers to client stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior developers and review their work.
  • Upskill into Omni and other emerging BI technologies as part of the role.

Requirements

  • Expert-level LookML experience, including views, explores, model files, dimensions, measures, dimension groups, and drill fields.
  • Experience designing scalable Looker model architectures with reusable base explores, shared views, and curated field exposure.
  • Experience implementing row-level security in Looker using user attributes and access filters.
  • Strong SQL skills for profiling data, joins, and window functions.
  • Knowledge of dimensional modeling, including star schemas, fact/dimension design, slowly changing dimensions, point-in-time joins, and join fan-out.
  • Delivered at least one BI migration from a legacy platform such as Tableau, SSRS, or a proprietary tool into Looker.
  • Comfort working against a cloud data warehouse and governed, modeled tables.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for client-facing and cross-functional work.
  • Self-directed in ambiguous, fast-changing project environments.
  • Omni experience is strongly preferred; other BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Sigma are a plus.
  • Git/GitLab fluency, including branches, merge requests, peer review, and conflict resolution, is preferred.
  • Embedded analytics, Looker API/SDK, System Activity, dbt, AI-assisted development tools, Snowflake experience, SnowPro certification, or Looker certification are all nice to have.
