Description

  • Build and maintain production Ruby on Rails applications, backend services, business logic, and internal tools.
  • Develop reusable, maintainable Rails services using Ruby, ActiveRecord, and MVC architecture.
  • Design, maintain, and integrate RESTful APIs, third-party platforms, payment systems, and webhooks.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and background synchronization workflows.
  • Design and optimize PostgreSQL/MySQL schemas, SQL queries, indexes, and database performance.
  • Build asynchronous workflows with Sidekiq or Resque and use Redis caching to improve performance.
  • Write and maintain unit, integration, and system tests; participate in code reviews and CI/CD workflows.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, improve API and job performance, monitor application health, and reduce technical debt.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ship reliable features and influence technical architecture.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional Ruby on Rails development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Ruby, Rails, ActiveRecord, and MVC architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL, including database performance optimization.
  • Experience building and integrating REST APIs.
  • Experience with Sidekiq or Resque, Redis, caching, and background processing.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of scalable backend application development, debugging, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work remotely during U.S. business hours.
  • Experience with React, Vue.js, or Stimulus (preferred).
  • Experience deploying on AWS, GCP, or Heroku; Devise/OmniAuth; high-traffic Rails applications; or SaaS, fintech, healthcare, or e-commerce environments (preferred).
