Description

  • Own the Linux and Vulkan migration of the renderer from early build to production quality on Nvidia graphics.
  • Diagnose and resolve differences between DirectX and Vulkan rendering paths, including memory, shaders, synchronization, and driver behavior.
  • Build comparison harnesses and regression tests to verify output equivalence across platforms.
  • Establish GPU and CPU profiling workflows on Linux and use them to identify and fix performance bottlenecks.
  • Contribute to broader rendering initiatives, including wide-angle and multi-view rendering, scene reconstruction, lighting, and GPU compute offload.
  • Partner with build, infrastructure, and simulation engineers to ship the renderer inside containers and onto cloud GPU instances.
  • Use AI-assisted coding and debugging tools effectively as part of the team’s workflow.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in real-time graphics or engine programming, with at least one product shipped end to end.
  • Production experience with Vulkan, including render paths, memory allocation, descriptor management, synchronization, and validation issues.
  • Experience shipping graphics software on Linux, including GPU drivers, Mesa or vendor stacks, shader toolchains, compositors, containers, and Linux debugging tools.
  • Strong productivity in modern C++ within a large codebase, serious build system, and CI environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to profile GPU and CPU performance and optimize bottlenecks using tools such as RenderDoc, Nsight, or equivalents.
  • Ability to work independently, scope a hard problem, sequence the work, and drive it to completion with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining graphics tradeoffs and giving clear schedule estimates.
  • Preferred: shipped a modern Unreal Engine 5.5+ title on Linux with the Vulkan RHI.
  • Preferred: deep familiarity with Unreal Engine internals, including the RHI layer, render graph, and shader pipeline.
  • Preferred: meaningful open-source contributions in the Vulkan ecosystem, such as Mesa, DXVK/VKD3D, Proton, SPIR-V tooling, or validation layers.
  • Preferred: prior experience porting a renderer between DirectX 11/12 and Vulkan.
  • Preferred: background in video streaming, cloud gaming, or remote rendering.
  • Preferred: familiarity with lidar, radar, or camera simulation, physically based rendering for machine perception, neural rendering, or Gaussian splatting.

Benefits

  • Base salary range of $155,000-$175,000.
  • Fully remote within North America.
  • Company operates on PST working hours.
  • Equity package.
  • Employer-paid supplemental medical, mental health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Flexible paid vacation, sick time, winter shutdown, and 11+ holidays per year.
  • Paid parental leave.
