Description

  • Architect and develop Alpaca’s algorithmic trading platform across frontend, backend, databases, and distributed systems.
  • Write production code and make key technical decisions focused on performance, reliability, and customer experience.
  • Design highly available, scalable, low-latency services and concurrency systems.
  • Develop system abstractions, service-oriented architectures, and object-oriented data models for long-term growth.
  • Optimize systems for low latency and high throughput.
  • Collaborate across a small engineering team while contributing across multiple technical areas.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering experience; lead experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in both low- and high-level programming languages, including Go and C/C++.
  • Experience optimizing low-latency, high-throughput systems.
  • Experience with messaging queues and message brokers.
  • Knowledge of algorithms, distributed systems, scalability, high availability, databases, concurrency control, and low-latency systems.
  • Experience designing highly scalable distributed systems.
  • Experience with system design, object-oriented data modeling, service-oriented architecture, and system abstraction.
  • Analytical, data-oriented problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with algorithmic trading, OMS/RMS, trading or exchange systems, FIX protocol, or financial markets preferred.
  • Experience with observability, profiling, benchmarking, cloud platforms—particularly GCP—Docker, Kubernetes, financial ledgers, or quantitative analysis preferred.
