Description

  • Own the end-to-end technical content stack, including asset pipelines, procedural tooling, material systems, performance budgets, and content validation.
  • Build and ship tools in Unreal Engine and Houdini that improve content team productivity and unblock production work.
  • Drive AI-augmented content workflows, including gaussian splat scene reconstruction, neural texture synthesis, and ML-assisted asset generation.
  • Optimize real-time performance across GPU and CPU in Unreal Engine for both interactive workflows and large-scale batch simulation.
  • Collaborate across content, rendering, simulation, ML, product, and DevOps to translate requirements and broker tradeoffs.
  • Establish and improve technical craft standards by leading through example on the quality of tools and workflows.
  • Prototype, scope, and harden open-ended pipeline and content solutions quickly, then ship them into production.
  • Use AI tooling actively for coding, scripting, and asset generation to accelerate production workflows.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a technical artist or in a closely adjacent role.
  • At least one shipped product on a real-time, physically based rendering pipeline.
  • Expert-level Unreal Engine 5 experience, including materials, Blueprints, performance profiling, the asset pipeline, and deeper rendering features.
  • Productive programming ability across some combination of Python, C++, HLSL, VEX, and shell.
  • Demonstrated ability to scope open-ended content or workflow problems independently and ship systems the team adopts.
  • Working command of LLM-based coding tools, generative content tooling such as diffusion models and ComfyUI, and broader AI tools used in technical art.
  • Strong communication skills for working with rendering engineers, simulation engineers, and product partners.
  • Generalist technical art background with pragmatic experience across content creation, tooling, rendering, performance, and pipeline.
  • Hands-on experience with gaussian splatting, NeRFs, or similar neural scene reconstruction techniques is preferred.
  • Experience in Houdini or equivalent tools such as Maya, Blender, 3DS Max, or Unreal PCG, including authoring HDAs and integrating them into a real-time pipeline is preferred.
  • Familiarity with RGB cameras, LiDAR, radar, and sensor artifacts relevant to autonomous-system perception is preferred.
  • Experience with distributed rendering or cloud-based content pipelines is preferred.
  • A mathematics, physics, or computational graphics background is preferred.

  • Base salary range of CAD $145,000–$175,000, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience.
