Description

  • Lead the analysis of which business functions should be outsourced versus retained in-house.
  • Design and govern an operating model that supports scale, risk mitigation, and critical business initiatives.
  • Drive outsourcing strategy toward transformational outcomes by identifying market trends and business opportunities.
  • Align vendor capabilities and service delivery with long-term company goals.
  • Lead end-to-end vendor selection, including RFPs, vetting, and onboarding of partners.
  • Partner with Procurement to negotiate MSAs and SOWs and monitor value delivery and ROI.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with senior internal leaders and external executives.
  • Establish and monitor SLAs and KPIs focused on financial accuracy, productivity, and member experience.
  • Oversee operational governance through consolidated performance reporting, root-cause analysis, and issue tracking.
  • Track outsourcing ROI with Finance, including billing analysis and cost-savings opportunities.
  • Set and enforce standards for offshore and nearshore sites to meet HIPAA, CMS, SOC2, and data privacy requirements.
  • Partner with Audit, Security, and Compliance on vendor audits and data incidents.
  • Lead transition management for new work streams, including documentation, training, and workflow design.
  • Serve as the primary bridge between internal teams and external partners to ensure knowledge transfer and brand consistency.
  • Create incentives and support structures for vendor staff to reduce turnover and preserve institutional knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience in insurance operations.
  • 8+ years working with teams across multiple locations and disciplines.
  • 8+ years of coaching, developing, and leading cross-functional teams.
  • 6+ years of experience with LEAN, Six Sigma, or other improvement methodologies.
  • 6+ years leading large-scale implementations or expansion initiatives across multiple sites or business units.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement processes, including negotiating and contracting BPO services.
  • 5+ years managing third-party BPO/ITO relationships for major insurance operations functions.
  • Strong legal and commercial acumen with experience negotiating multi-million-dollar contracts.
  • Ability to influence internal and external leadership across onshore and offshore teams.
  • MBA or relevant advanced degree, preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience on the insurance payer side, preferred.
  • Advanced experience with procurement or contract management functions, preferred.
  • Advanced experience in healthcare, preferred.
  • Experience managing international teams across APAC, LATAM, and EMEA, preferred.
  • Proven track record of scaling an outsourcing program from scratch to a global footprint, preferred.
