Description

  • Lead engineering for MetaDefender Email Security across on-premises gateway and cloud-native Microsoft 365 deployment models.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of the product roadmap, including execution sequencing, technical risk, quality, security, and release management.
  • Set technical direction and architecture decisions for a product serving high-assurance environments at scale.
  • Stay hands-on in the codebase by writing, reviewing, and prototyping critical code and resolving difficult technical issues.
  • Orchestrate AI agents and AI-assisted workflows to support specification, coding, testing, review, and deployment.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain engineers and engineering leads across Romania and Hungary.
  • Establish and enforce a high-performance engineering culture with clear career paths, quality standards, and performance management practices.
  • Champion a security-first quality bar for code review, testing, incident response, and release readiness.
  • Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines, development workflows, and operational maturity to increase speed and reliability.
  • Partner with Product Management, Design, and security leaders to translate roadmap priorities into engineering execution.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years leading engineering teams, including managing managers or leads.
  • Full end-to-end experience running an agentic, AI-powered SDLC in B2B or high-security enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrable experience launching a product through a full AI-assisted lifecycle from spec to release.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including design patterns, SOLID principles, and modern architecture.
  • Proven experience building scalable, distributed systems with relational and document databases, cloud-native services, and modern CI/CD systems.
  • High bar for tested, maintainable code and the ability to evaluate AI-assisted code with rigor.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead distributed teams across countries and time zones.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Security-conscious mindset and experience working in critical infrastructure or other high-assurance environments.
  • Experience with email technologies and protocols, and different email security deployment methods (preferred).
  • Experience integrating with Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace APIs (preferred).
  • Hands-on or managerial experience with .NET Core/C# (preferred).
  • Experience leading cloud-native SaaS platforms using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS/Azure/GCP (preferred).
  • Experience writing AI context files such as CLAUDE.md or .cursorrules (preferred).
  • Experience running AI agents in CI/CD pipelines for tasks such as lint fixing, test generation, or safe migrations (preferred).
  • Experience building engineering culture across multiple countries and time zones (preferred).
  • Experience validating concurrency and thread-safety in high-throughput systems (preferred).
