Description

  • Perform system analysis, assess risks, and develop technical design and implementation strategies for software delivery.
  • Build and deliver high-quality software for medium-to-high complexity products.
  • Support production systems by debugging defects, performing root cause analysis, and resolving issues.
  • Improve observability and monitoring to help prevent future regressions.
  • Create and maintain software documentation, including specifications and test protocols/results.
  • Collaborate with the team on solutioning, knowledge sharing, and efficient delivery.
  • Use AI and agentic AI approaches to build adapters that enable automation.
  • Maintain awareness of end-to-end laboratory processes involving patient samples and multi-product workflows.
  • Complete and maintain required HIPAA/PHI privacy and security training due to regular handling of PHI.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in both server-side and front-end development for complex n-tier systems.
  • At least 4 years of experience focused on complex systems and integrations.
  • 5+ years of recent, hands-on Java experience, preferably with Spring or similar open-source frameworks.
  • Recent hands-on experience with front-end development.
  • Recent hands-on experience designing and developing REST APIs.
  • Extensive working knowledge of relational databases and experience with Hibernate/JPA.
  • Recent hands-on experience with test design and automation.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude Code to accelerate mapping of complex data structures between systems.
  • Proven ability to pivot between tech stacks based on business needs, including bridging modern AI agents with legacy JSP/Java architectures.
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong understanding of core software engineering principles such as OOP and SOLID.
  • Experience with containers such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with distributed version control systems such as GitLab and branching strategies.
  • Experience with message brokers/queues such as Apache Kafka or AWS SQS is a plus.
  • Experience with JSP and JavaScript is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software lifecycle management tools such as Jira.
  • Experience developing software in a regulated environment is a plus.
