Description

  • Own assigned Voice AI features and components through the full software development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to design discussions, code reviews, and best practice adoption within the team.
  • Optimize voice pipeline performance, including VAD tuning, turn-taking, interruption handling, and latency management.
  • Plan and prioritize work in an Agile environment to deliver features on time and with high quality.
  • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to refine requirements and scope conversational AI efforts.
  • Monitor voice platform health metrics and use data to prioritize improvements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing through pair programming and design reviews.
  • Document Voice AI patterns, integration contracts, and operational runbooks.
  • Collaborate with QA, clinical operations, analytics, and other engineering teams to validate designs and integrate systems.
  • Improve multi-agent orchestration, testing strategies, and voice-specific UX issues such as ASR errors and response latency.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of overall software development experience, with focus on scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • 1+ years of experience with voice AI, conversational AI, or real-time audio systems in production.
  • Hands-on experience with agentic LLM architectures, including tool calling, multi-agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and conversation state management.
  • Familiarity with voice AI pipeline components such as STT, TTS, and LLM APIs.
  • Experience with telephony systems such as Twilio media streams, SIP, IVR, or equivalent WebSocket-based audio streaming platforms.
  • Understanding of voice-specific challenges including VAD configuration, turn-taking, interruption handling, latency budgets, and audio codec management.
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC, including build, configuration, release, and deployment.
  • Knowledge of microservice architecture and distributed systems best practices.
  • Proficiency with AWS services including ECS Fargate, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, Kafka/MSK, API Gateway, and Bedrock.
  • Strong relational database skills with MySQL and exposure to NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB and Redis.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture and message processing using tools like Apache Kafka and SQS.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills, excellent communication, and strong organizational ability.
  • Experience with RAG architectures, vector stores, and embedding models is a plus.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as NestJS or Express, Jest, Datadog APM, GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Okta JWT flows, and HIPAA requirements for voice systems.
