Description

  • Assess the current People team, define the future state, coach existing team members, and hire for missing capabilities.
  • Own employee relations for an hourly, multistate workforce, including investigations, performance management, terminations, accommodations, and workers' compensation claims.
  • Manage multistate compliance with strong California focus, including filings, leave administration, wage and hour, and classification.
  • Set recruiting strategy and personally lead critical hiring for hourly, operations, and corporate roles.
  • Partner closely with warehouse and logistics leaders to identify people issues early, strengthen frontline management, and co-own workplace safety and workers' compensation programs.
  • Oversee benefits, payroll, open enrollment, vendor management, and broader total rewards operations.
  • Own HR systems work across HRIS, ATS, reporting, configuration, and integrations.
  • Manage external partners such as brokers, EORs, employment counsel, and safety consultants.
  • Lead cross-functional people projects such as compensation reviews, policy rollouts, handbook updates, org changes, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Spend significant time in warehouses and with managers and executives to diagnose issues, prioritize action, and drive execution.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in HR or People roles.
  • Meaningful experience in logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or another operationally heavy environment.
  • Direct experience supporting hourly and warehouse workforces at scale.
  • Experience handling high-volume employee relations, workers' compensation claims, and high-turnover hourly recruiting.
  • Multistate compliance experience, with California depth strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating in a complex, fast-changing regulatory environment; cannabis industry experience is a plus.
  • A track record of leading a People function from informal or under-built to mature.
  • Hands-on recruiting experience, including running searches end-to-end and closing candidates directly.
  • Ability to own HRIS and ATS configuration, reporting, and integrations.
  • Strong executive presence, high autonomy, and comfort operating in ambiguity.
