Description

  • Lead verification and validation efforts for the Perception subsystem to help close the safety case.
  • Influence requirements using problem understanding, covariate coverage, and testing constraints.
  • Educate perception engineers and champion V&V best practices across the organization.
  • Collaborate with autonomy and systems engineers to define problem taxonomies and critical performance covariates.
  • Identify appropriate metrics, build dashboards, and automate reporting.
  • Establish coverage targets and identify data and testing gaps.
  • Validate the test strategy and provide early feedback to developers.
  • Create actionable test plans across multiple test modalities and scale test creation cross-functionally.
  • Assess limitations of existing tools and simulation technologies and advocate for improvements to testing automation.
  • Serve as the primary bridge between Perception and Systems Readiness and Performance, ensuring aligned processes, terminology, and communication of perception failure impacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field preferred.
  • Experience leading verification and validation for a safety-critical product.
  • Verification and validation experience with a self-driving vehicle strongly preferred.
  • General knowledge of the self-driving vehicle software stack.
  • Understanding of simulation technologies used in autonomy development.
  • Experience creating and executing V&V test strategies.
  • Experience with test set creation, test organization, requirements linking, deficiency linking, and structured reporting.
  • Strong understanding of performance analysis, risk assessment, and go/no-go decision-making.
  • Understanding of basic descriptive statistics.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting, database queries, and automation.
  • Familiarity with common dashboarding software.
  • Familiarity with AI/agentic coding tools to accelerate workloads.
  • Experience with Git and build automation tools such as Buildkite or Jenkins.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, leadership, innovation, and creativity.
  • Track record of reliability, trustworthiness, and delivering impact.
  • Ability to frame safety discussions within a grounded risk assessment framework.
  • Entrepreneurial experience or other evidence of being self-driven, adaptable, and results-oriented preferred.
  • Patents or other evidence of innovation and creativity preferred.

  • Salary range of $200,000 to $275,000 USD base compensation.
  • Additional compensation may include a bonus and company equity.
