Description

  • Build and maintain tools that help users interact with their data and understand deployment health and performance.
  • Develop customer-facing APIs and UIs for MongoDB users across desktop and browser experiences.
  • Contribute to backend systems with occasional frontend work as needed.
  • Design and support scalable, highly available web applications for a distributed environment.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support business continuity and incident response.
  • Collaborate with teammates across the Database Experience and Developer Tools organization to deliver product capabilities.
  • Work on systems that support MongoDB Atlas and other user-facing database experience products.
  • Investigate and resolve difficult technical problems in distributed systems.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of engineering experience working with backend systems such as Java, C#, Go, or Node.js.
  • Experience as a backend engineer with willingness to take on frontend tasks, or as a full-stack developer with a backend focus.
  • Experience designing and architecting modern, scalable, high-availability web applications.
  • Experience working with databases.
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Enjoys collaboration and working as part of a team.
  • Approachable, curious, and intellectually honest.
  • Comfort chasing down difficult problems in a distributed environment.
  • Commitment to continuously expanding technical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of database internals and tuning mechanisms, particularly indexing, is preferred.
  • Previous work in TypeScript, React, and Node.js, especially maintaining an ecosystem of dependencies, is preferred.
  • Experience with websocket-based client-to-server communication is preferred.
  • Familiarity with developing and supporting microservice architectures using Kubernetes is preferred.
