Description

  • Partner with Engineering Directors to shape the technical and product direction of a collective across multiple squads.
  • Provide hands-on coding and architecture leadership.
  • Work closely with Product and Design leaders to define strategy, shape roadmaps, and make trade-offs that maximise business and customer impact.
  • Mobilise teams around high-impact problems by creating clarity, alignment, urgency, and momentum.
  • Lead architectural direction for complex systems and ensure cohesive, scalable designs across teams.
  • Drive improvements in technical quality, reliability, and scalability across the collective.
  • Mentor, sponsor, and develop senior engineers and future leaders.
  • Influence and align senior stakeholders across engineering, product, and other functions.

Requirements

  • Experience leading complex, high-impact systems and driving technical direction across multiple teams.
  • Strong technical judgment combined with product and business awareness.
  • Experience with scalable backend, distributed, or data-intensive systems.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous problem spaces and helping teams define direction.
  • Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across engineering, product, and beyond.
  • Focus on outcomes and impact, using data to guide decisions.
  • Enjoyment of mentoring and raising the bar for other engineers.
  • Experience with Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, React, or Feast is relevant to the role.
  • Willingness to work from London or distributed within the UK with ad hoc meetings in London.
  • Visa sponsorship and relocation to the UK are available for eligible candidates.
