Description

  • Assess and diagnose seller compensation plans during deal diligence and structuring.
  • Partner with Deal, Finance, People, and Legal teams to design aligned compensation approaches.
  • Model compensation scenarios and explain tradeoffs and considerations to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compensation commitments are deliberate, documented, and operationally feasible after close.
  • Own and maintain scalable M&A compensation frameworks, standard models, transition approaches, and exception criteria.
  • Define governance for bespoke arrangements, including tracking, sunset provisions, and conversion to standard plans.
  • Create repeatable playbooks, tools, and documentation for deal teams and internal partners.
  • Develop education materials for incoming partners on compensation philosophy, programs, and expectations.
  • Translate compensation commitments into Mercer’s compensation cycle and manage phased transitions.
  • Serve as the escalation owner for post-close M&A compensation issues and maintain a central repository of commitments.

Requirements

  • Experience in M&A or Corporate Development environments.
  • Financial Services or Wealth Management experience preferred.
  • Strong business acumen paired with compensation expertise.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and making tradeoffs.
  • High emotional intelligence and strong executive presence.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with senior stakeholders in high-stakes situations.
  • Ability to explain complex topics clearly and simply.
  • Availability during standard business hours Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM, with occasional early or late hours as needed.
  • Ability to work in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace free of interruptions.

  • Base pay range of $125,000 to $150,000 USD.
  • Eligibility to earn incentive compensation through Mercer Advisors’ incentive compensation programs.
