Description

  • Manage a book of clients as the primary contact for employees, managers, and benefits vendors on all leave matters.
  • Intake leave requests, make leave designations, and recommend leave actions to client HR contacts and managers for approval.
  • Oversee the full leave lifecycle from initial notice through return to work, including communications, paperwork, and routine claims issues.
  • Coordinate with Benefits and Payroll on benefit continuation, premium collection, and pay impact during leave.
  • Maintain complete and accurate leave and accommodation records in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Serve as the senior subject matter expert on FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, and other state-specific leave laws.
  • Act as a go-to resource for complex, sensitive, or escalated leave cases and partner with internal HR Consultants and external counsel as needed.
  • Provide guidance and education to clients, employees, managers, and internal team members on leave policies and procedures.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and translate updates into clear, actionable practices for the team.
  • Help improve LOA workflows, templates, communications, and documentation standards, including process automation and AI-enabled efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of leave administration experience with independent ownership of a book of clients or complex caseload.
  • Experience mentoring, training, or serving as a go-to resource for peers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex regulations into clear guidance.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and an ownership mindset.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and leave management software.
  • Comfort using modern productivity and AI tools to drive efficiency.
  • HR or leave management certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or CLMS strongly preferred.
  • Remote position.
