Description

  • Design, model, and develop the full GCP data ecosystem for a client using services such as Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and BigQuery.
  • Gather, analyze, model, and document business and technical requirements throughout the delivery process.
  • Work directly with clients and participate in discussions to identify improvement opportunities and solution options.
  • Model data from multiple source systems and technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and support complex, high-impact data issues and deliver new features and functionality.
  • Design and optimize data storage architectures, including data lakes, data warehouses, and distributed file systems.
  • Implement storage and retrieval optimization techniques such as partitioning, compression, indexing, and caching.
  • Tune queries, resolve performance bottlenecks, and improve overall system efficiency.
  • Monitor system performance, identify anomalies, and conduct root cause analysis to maintain reliable data operations.
  • Train and mentor less experienced data engineers and support knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer working with GCP cloud-based infrastructure and systems.
  • Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and cloud computing services.
  • Extensive experience designing, building, and deploying cloud data pipelines.
  • Experience ingesting data from databases, APIs, and streaming platforms.
  • Strong SQL experience, with BigQuery required.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases and database management systems.
  • Programming skills in SQL, Python, and other scripting languages.
  • Strong data modeling and database optimization skills.
  • Knowledge of query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with orchestration and scheduling tools, with Airflow required.
  • Experience with ETL and ELT data integration approaches.
  • Experience with modern transformation tools such as DBT or Dataform.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to lead client discussions and present technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with tools such as Git, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Experience in multinational environments and distributed teams.
  • Certifications in big data technologies or cloud platforms are a plus.
  • Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau is preferred.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as Talend or Alteryx is preferred.
  • Experience with Apache Spark in a GCP environment is preferred.
  • Experience with Databricks is preferred.
  • Experience with Azure cloud-based infrastructure and systems is preferred.
