Description

  • Design and lead AI systems for intent recognition, task decomposition, and multi-step execution across QuillBot’s product surfaces.
  • Define and build orchestration systems that plan, coordinate, and execute workflows across the product suite.
  • Establish standards for agent-native infrastructure so product surfaces are machine-readable and executable.
  • Lead research and development across text and multimodal AI domains, with an initial focus on text and image capabilities.
  • Drive model strategy decisions across proprietary and third-party systems, balancing capability, cost, and shipping velocity.
  • Own model updates, MLOps, and data pipeline shipping cadence across high-scale production systems.
  • Ensure reliability, performance, latency, and compute efficiency of the AI stack serving tens of millions of users.
  • Build and lead an integrated AI organization spanning R&D and Applied AI teams.
  • Partner with the VP of AI and senior leadership to define technical direction and guide platform-level decisions.
  • Drive alignment across Engineering, Product, and Design to support adoption of agent-native standards.

Requirements

  • Experience building and shipping agentic systems or orchestration platforms in production at meaningful scale.
  • Deep expertise coordinating diverse agent populations within stateful environments, including task decomposition, intent routing, and multi-step execution.
  • Proven ability to design and operate systems that maintain sustained, context-aware agency across multi-session and multi-domain workflows.
  • Ability to optimize planning logic against latency, unit economics, and reliability constraints at consumer scale.
  • Background in NLP and/or multimodal AI, with text and image preferred.
  • Experience leading both AI R&D and Applied AI/MLOps teams in consumer product environments serving millions of users.
  • Track record of scaling AI systems and infrastructure from 0→1 into high-scale production.
  • Ability to form strong technical opinions quickly, update them based on evidence, and translate AI capabilities into product and business impact.
  • Experience building or reshaping AI organizations, including hiring, restructuring, and raising the performance bar.
  • Ability to drive alignment across Engineering, Product, and executive stakeholders through technical credibility and strategic clarity.
  • Ability to operate effectively across global distributed teams and time zones.
  • Experience with agent-to-tool communication frameworks or emerging standards such as MCP or agent SDKs preferred.
  • Contributions to peer-reviewed research or involvement in the broader AI research community preferred.
  • Experience with browser-based or edge compute environments such as WebGPU preferred.
  • Background in creative, productivity, or prosumer software platforms preferred.
  • Experience operating in founder-led or highly entrepreneurial environments preferred.

  • Base salary range of $249,000-$421,000 USD in California and New York, with location-based ranges for other states.
