Description

  • Serve as the hands-on technical lead for securing HPC and virtualization environments.
  • Plan, execute, and follow through on security projects and engagements independently.
  • Review existing and new deployments and architecture designs for flaws and security improvements.
  • Partner with Cloud Platform, IT, and Product teams to design security solutions tailored to business needs.
  • Lead data center and network security initiatives to evaluate and improve technical controls.
  • Document findings, perform threat and risk assessments, and run proof-of-concept evaluations.
  • Design, review, and automate security controls for cloud and virtualized deployments.
  • Provide dashboards, metrics, playbooks, runbooks, and operational documentation for security posture and support.
  • Support supercomputing system administration, including monitoring, security checks, scripting, and tool development.
  • Mentor team members and engineering staff on security practices and implementation.
  • Advise on secure network and infrastructure designs, including DMZ, NAC/NAP, lateral isolation, and multi-site data movement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong preference for 8+ years of related experience, or 6 years with a Master’s degree, as a Data Center/Virtualization and/or Network Security Architect/Engineer.
  • 2+ years of experience in vulnerability management, including adjusting risk ratings and severity based on internal factors.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud and virtualization technologies such as AWS, HPC, and MAAS.
  • Experience with Lustre, Kerberos, and Linux administration.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Go, or Java to build production services and automation tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation, and Ansible.
  • Experience patching and hardening Linux, MacOS, and Windows systems, images, and containers.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols and firewall management for internal and perimeter security.
  • Experience architecting and deploying scalable security services in cloud-native and virtualized environments.
  • Experience securing distributed applications and clustered compute workloads running on CPUs, GPUs, and TPUs.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity standards such as ISO27001 and NIST 800-53.
  • Experience with Jenkins is a plus.
  • Experience with Zero Trust Architecture principles and implementations.
  • Exposure to data governance, secure data movement, and storage lifecycle management.
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation, communication, and technical diagramming skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and work independently and collaboratively.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
