Description

  • Lead the Platform Services team responsible for core messaging and events infrastructure across KnowBe4’s product suite.
  • Own the infrastructure that powers email delivery, event publish/subscribe, and outbound notifications across multiple channels.
  • Manage engineers directly, including hiring, performance conversations, promotions, and professional growth.
  • Guide technical decisions across identity, platform reliability, delivery systems, and infrastructure architecture.
  • Review designs, RFCs, and architecture proposals, and communicate recommendations to engineers and executives.
  • Drive roadmap planning, dependency management, and predictable delivery in a discovery-heavy platform environment.
  • Oversee team use of the KnowBe4 Software Development Lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
  • Recommend solutions to engineering problems and provide input on personnel actions that carry significant weight.
  • Coordinate cross-team systems and libraries that other engineering teams rely on for events and notifications.

Requirements

  • Remote positions are open to candidates in the US only.
  • 3+ years of technical experience with a BS or equivalent, 5+ years with an MS or equivalent including team leadership, or 4+ years with a Ph.D. or equivalent including team leadership.
  • Prior experience as an individual contributor in messaging, eventing, platform engineering, identity, auth, or infrastructure before moving into management.
  • Direct people management experience, including hiring loops, performance management, and developing engineers into larger roles.
  • Working fluency in a typed, compiled language such as Go, Rust, C#, or equivalent.
  • Experience with AWS messaging and compute services such as ECS, Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, SSM, and IAM.
  • Understanding of event-driven architecture concepts such as pub/sub, fan-out, eventual consistency, idempotency, dead-letter handling, and delivery guarantees.
  • Experience with messaging and delivery systems, including email reputation, bounce handling, and third-party chat or webhook integrations.
  • Experience with Terraform at scale, including multi-account and multi-region provisioning and CI deployment patterns.
  • Experience with observability tooling such as structured logging, tracing, and delivery metrics.
  • Experience managing a platform or infrastructure team that serves other internal engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with Go production work and high-throughput services (preferred).
  • Rust async ecosystem familiarity such as tokio, axum, reqwest, and serde (preferred).
  • Experience with AWS SES or third-party email service providers such as SendGrid or Postmark, plus SMTP, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC (preferred).
  • Experience with Slack API, Microsoft Graph/Teams, Google Chat API, and webhook delivery patterns (preferred).
  • Experience with C# and .NET 8+ or Python in services and event-processing tooling (preferred).
  • Experience with Auth0 and Keycloak, including SAML, OIDC, and OAuth configuration (preferred).
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipeline design and multi-environment deployments (preferred).
  • Knowledge of security engineering concepts such as threat modeling, zero-trust principles, secrets management, and credential rotation (preferred).
  • Base pay range of $150,000 to $174,000, depending on skills and experience.
