Description

  • Build and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, and microservices using FastAPI.
  • Develop and operationalize ML and deep learning models, with a strong focus on LLMs and generative AI.
  • Implement MLOps capabilities such as KPI tracking, drift detection, feedback loops, and model versioning.
  • Integrate Azure OpenAI and other LLM providers with robust retry logic and error handling.
  • Build model pipelines for feature engineering, inference, and continuous training.
  • Write backend application code in Python and SQL using asynchronous programming and object-oriented design principles.
  • Implement dependency injection patterns and layered architecture across service, foundation, orchestration, and data access layers.
  • Build LLM observability and prompt management systems to track prompts, tokens, costs, latency, versioning, and fallbacks.
  • Implement asynchronous workflows for task processing and complex pipelines using Celery or similar tools.
  • Design multi-tenant architectures with client data isolation and LLM cost optimization strategies.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and services such as document/OCR tools, cloud storage, and enterprise systems.
  • Collaborate with client-facing teams to gather technical requirements and business context.
  • Write production-ready code, unit tests, and higher-level tests that handle edge cases and errors.
  • Troubleshoot backend issues using structured logging, distributed tracing, bug tracking, and code reviews.
  • Document application changes and API updates, including OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and communicate progress, blockers, and dependencies.
  • Research and evaluate new architecture patterns and technologies through proofs of concept and prototypes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 7+ years of strong Python coding experience.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with machine learning and production LLM systems.
  • 3+ years of experience building backend APIs with FastAPI, async patterns, rate limiting, and SQLAlchemy.
  • Experience designing maintainable and extensible systems using dependency injection, interfaces, and abstract base classes.
  • Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, or Chroma, and hybrid search.
  • Strong understanding of RAG architectures, including retrieval, reranking, context assembly, and response generation.
  • Hands-on experience with LangChain and LangGraph for building and orchestrating LLM workflows.
  • Advanced Python knowledge, including async/await, type hints, Pydantic, and SOLID principles.
  • MLOps experience with MLflow, model versioning, and A/B testing; Langfuse experience is a plus.
  • Experience in NLP and computer vision, including document understanding, OCR, and GPT-4 Vision.
  • Experience building feature pipelines, real-time and batch inference systems, and model serving.
  • Hands-on experience with Hugging Face is required; experience with LlamaIndex is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SQL and other database technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD, including Docker, Azure DevOps pipelines or GitHub Actions, and Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Experience with data security practices such as multi-tenant isolation, secure key management, and audit trails is a plus.
  • Cloud experience on Azure is strongly preferred, including Azure OpenAI, Blob Storage, Key Vault, and Container Registry; AWS or GCP experience is also relevant.
  • Experience in big data engineering, including large-scale data processing and ETL/ELT pipelines, is a plus.
  • Experience with rate limiting and quota management for high-throughput API usage is a plus.
  • Experience optimizing LLM cost at scale is a plus.
  • Document processing experience, including PDF extraction and OCR tooling, is a plus.
  • Production incident management and on-call experience are a plus.
  • Testing strategies for non-deterministic LLM outputs, such as golden datasets and fuzzy matching, are a plus.
  • Domain knowledge in regulated industries such as healthcare or pharma workflows and compliance is a plus.
